Make It Monday: Celebrate Sunflowers Card

Just 2 more days until the 2020-21 Annual catalog goes live! This new catalog is packed full of fun products! Contact me on how to get your copy!

My craft room has been blooming with fun ideas for the Celebrate Sunflowers bundle. A must have in your craft collection! This week's Make It Monday uses the simplicity of the large sunflower dies to create this fun and easy card.

The Old World Paper embossing folder adds the perfect touch of texture to this simple card.

Just a little sunflower inside the card for the finishing touch.

Here are some other projects I've enjoyed making to inspire you with ideas for so many wonderful uses of the Celebrate Sunflowers bundle...

"Make It" Instructions
  1. Cut a 4-1/4” x 11” piece of So Saffron cardstock. Score and fold in half for card base.
  2. Emboss a 4” x 5-1/4” piece of Misty Moonlight cardstock with Old World Paper embossing folder. Adhere to card front.
  3. Die cut the following with Sunflowers dies: a solid large sunflower base in So Saffron cardstock, sunflower outline layer in Bumblebee cardstock, and sunflower center circle in Misty Moonlight cardstock.
  4. Adhere layers together (use Dimensional for flower center) then adhere assembled sunflower to upper section of card with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  5. Die cut a narrow stitched rectangle with Ornate Layers dies in Whisper White cardstock.
  6. Stamp (Black Memento ink) "Thanks a bunch" sentiment from Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set on rectangle.
  7. Adhere sentiment rectangle under sunflower.
  8. Embellish upper left corner of sentiment with a Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon bow (adhered with a Glue Dot).
  9. If desired, stamp smaller sunflower in lower right corner of a 4” x 5-1/4” piece of Whisper White cardstock. Adhere inside card.

Make It Monday: Peaceful Poppies Wood Letter

During this pandemic time, our family is repainting the inside of the house. It's been exciting to see the change of each painted room...fresh and bright. Of course, before we put everything back in each room, we are doing some serious cleaning and organizing which means a new look for my craft space! Whoo hoo! One little gem I almost threw away was an old painted wooden letter. I decided to re-purpose it and share with you how to make one of your own.

I used a 6" tall letter but most any letters up to 12" tall will work with a 12" x 12" sheet of Designer Series Paper.

First, turn your letter to face the back side of your DSP and trace along the edges with a pencil.

Click HERE for the full PDF tutorial.

Cut out your DSP letter and trim off any overhang as much as possible. Adhere DSP to wooden letter. Once dry, use an emory board to scrap the edges at a downward angle to remove any excess DSP hanging over.

I love the pop of color in my new craft space.

Shop these supplies to make your own Peaceful Poppies wood letter. Just an FYI: the Peaceful Poppies DSP is retiring next week. Be sure to order this beautiful paper before it's gone!

Our older son helped paint my craft space.

My sweet husband putting together the IKEA Kallax unit for my new craft storage system.

This was the BEFORE picture of my craft desk. Not much room and difficult to keep organized.

Here is the AFTER picture of my crafting space. I'll eventually add some storage inserts from Stamp N Storage for the papers and punches but enjoying all the extra space and organization.

Make It Monday: Magnolia Lane One Sheet Wonder

Got Designer Series Paper (DSP)? Let's craft!

This week I'll show you a fun and easy way to use up those extra sheets of DSP in your craft room. This technique is called the "One Sheet Wonder" and makes 9 cards from one sheet of DSP. Whether you are a beginning or avid paper crafter, I think you'll love it!

Try your own One Sheet Wonder cards with different paper patterns and share them on my Simply Sweet in Ink Facebook Group. Would love to see all the unique creations!

Just use the template below to cut out all the pieces you'll need to make the cards.

You can access the PDF tutorial HERE.

I used the Magnolia Lane DSP which is retiring soon (and currently on sale).

To carry the pattern in the DSP, I die cut a flower bud with the Magnolia Memory dies for many of the cards. Just a touch of Rhinestones and Petal Pink Organdy Ribbon add a soft but elegant touch.

I used sentiments from 3 stamp sets; however, you can substitute with your own.

Shop these supplies to create your own Magnolia Lane cards.
